Internet pharmacies & prices
We would like to take this opportunity to make you aware of some of the precautions you should take when purchasing your pet's medications. Medications and over-the counter products normally purchased through your veterinarian are now available through internet pharmacies. Unfortunately, there are several disadvantages to purchasing these products through sources other than your veterinarian:
Quality:
Our products are shipped directly from the manufacturer to us. They are shipped in a temperature-controlled environment, and shipped overnight. When products are bought off the internet, the goods are second, third, or fourth hand products. Often, these products are manufactured in foreign countries, and there is a chance they are counterfeit. There is no temperature control and no State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners to test the product.
Guarantee:
Our products are guaranteed by the manufacturer. If there is a product failure or a drug reaction, the drug manufacturer will pay for the treatment of your pet. This can amount to thousands of dollars. The internet pharmacies cannot guarantee service like this. We have a working relationship with drug manufacturers and will coordinate treatment and payment. With an internet pharmacy you will have to pay for treatment up front and hope that they will guarantee their product 100%. Ask for something in writing! We have contacted popular internet pharmacies and asked for something in writing regarding a guarantee, repeatedly the answer is "we guarantee our products". When asked what is covered, again told, "we guarantee our products" When asked if they will pay for treatment if the heartworm preventative does not prevent heartworm, again told, "we guarantee our products". - they gave us the run around and never provided the guarantee in writing (what is covered and paid for by them should their product fail or cause injury to a pet).

Client/Patient Relationship:

The State Pharmacy Board requires doctors to have a relationship with the client in order to write prescriptions. This means that your pet must be current on vaccinations, heartworm testing and bloodwork, when applicable.
If you choose to purchase a product from an internet or catalog pharmacy, we will write a prescription and fax it directly to the pharmacy or you can pick it up at our office if you prefer. We cannot fax the prescription the pharmacy sends us, as it is not a legal prescription blank, as required by NJ law. We will make sure to the best of our ability that these pharmacies are following the correct procedures under law and are licensed to dispense medications in the state of New Jersey. We will continue to prescribe medication for our active clients as long the owner complies with our monitoring recommendations. Our prices are often comparable with internet pharmacies, and manufacturers offer  coupons as well as free products.
Thank you very much for allowing us to continue to serve you and your pets.
Below are websites from the makers of Interceptor, Revolution, Heartguard and Frontline highlighting the guarantee from them when you purchase your medications from your local veterinarian. We try to keep the heartworm and pesticides prices competitive. Our products are actually cheaper most of the time and come WITH A GUARANTEE!

Sincerely,
